Only a few weeks away now... Some info about the support:

Tom Patterson and Dave Morton have been playing together for some years.  Tom is a prolific songwriter who is a many times winner of the Morpeth Gathering songwriting competition.  Recently he won awards at the Darlington Folk Festival songwriting competition 2013 and the Durham Traditional songwriting competition at the Sedgefield Folk Festival, 2012.  His passionate vocals and guitar are backed by Dave Morton's fluid guitar lines.

Autumn approaches - but the good news is: Pete Morton at the Organ Grinder, Loughborough, November 22nd, 2013...

By the time autumn has come down on us, no doubt spirits will need lifting.  Here's the perfect hit to achieve such transcendence: Pete Morton, live at the Organ Grinder, Loughborough, with support from songwriter Tom Patterson and his long term sidekick Dave Morton (guitar, juggling etc).  A certain amount of nostalgia involved as well: the OG was formerly known as the Pack Horse and housed a folk club where Pete played regular gigs for many years so a return to an old haunt that has been successfully relaunched after falling on hard times.  The battered upstairs room has also been refurbished and offers a somewhat more comfortable listening experience... date for your diaries: Friday 22nd November, doors 8 pm.  Come early - Pete always attracts a crowd... a mere £9...

A heads up for a future gig - Pete Morton will be playing in the autumn on Friday 22nd November at
The Organ Grinder, Woodgate, Loughborough.  A new venue?  Not exactly... more a return to an old venue under a new name.  Early in his career Pete played many gigs upstairs at the folk club of the Old Pack Horse pub and continued to do so down the years.  Unfortunately the pub deteriorated badly, locked in a downward spiral until it finally collapsed and died.  Enter Blue Monkey Brewery in 2012 who did a superb job on renovating this venerable old boozer and taking it back to - and beyond even - its former glories under a new name: The Organ Grinder.   Please note: a folk club started up again recently for informal sessions once a month, second Friday.  Pete's gig, however,  is under the Tapped But Settling banner of Mr Frank Marmion as a concert booking with support tba....

A Game of Three Halves... Update...

A big thank you to all the artists who gave their services free and to the audience for their generosity in buying raffle tickets etc and the parrot auction (you had to be there!)... the final figure is: £319 raised for the local charity Rainbows.

Playing and singing on the night were:  Gren Bartley, John and Sheila Bentham, Nigel Lawson, John Prowse, Frank 'Captain Blood' Marmion, Dave Morton, Tom Patterson, Steve Parry, Rod Warner and GU4 (Bill Wilkes/Karen Harris/Pete Burnham/Miggy Campbell).

We're back!

Rainbows charity update...

The GU4 Christmas gig raised £324, John and Sheila Bentham have added the proceeds from the cd recorded at John's 60th birthday bash last year - £157 - and Bill Wilkes from GU4 has generously donated the £200 given to him as a long service award from his employers.  So: a grand total of £681will be sent to our local charity Rainbows.  The photo above shows John, Bill and Frank (Tapped But Settling) with our venue host, Ian Bogie, the landlord of  The Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough.  A big thank you to GU4 and all the artists who gave their services, to the enthusiastic audience for turning up on such a foul night, to all who donated prizes for the raffle - and to Ian, Dave and the rest of the staff of the Swan for all their assistance.

After the Ball... more news...

A quick update from Tapped But Settling H.Q. - Frank has confirmed that we raised £324 for Rainbows on Saturday night.  There will also be some other donations coming in - more details after the festive season.  Thanks again to GU4 and all the performers and audience who made it such a special and fun night - and for a very good cause.  Oh - and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone from Frank and Rod...

After the Ball... Carols... Turkey... Phoneboxes... Superheroes...

A night to remember... GU4 and all the other performers gave of their best, with the night tipping into surreal hilarity in places.  Superheroes of folk music indeed.   And according to Mr Marmion, turkeys are not just for Christmas but for wearing on one's head while singing that sombre ode: 'The Hole in the Elephant's Bottom.'  You had to be there... A  big thanks to Bill Wilkes, Miggy Campbell, Pete Burnham and Karen Harris (and Humphrey with his flail!) for heading up a night that was not only jammed with great music and mucho fun but via the efforts of our generous audience raised a good sum for an extremely worthy cause. the Rainbows charity.  Final figure not in yet as there is other money to be added but as soon as Frank has worked it out it will be posted here.  Applause to all for their generosity and help - including the landlord of the Swan in the Rushes, Ian Bogie, Dave and the rest of the staff.

Christmas Gig with GU4 and Friends... Saturday 19th December, 2009

Welcome to the home of Tapped But Settling, Frank Marmion's new venture, with news that GU4 and friends have been booked to play at the Swan in the Rushes in Loughborough on Saturday, 19th December, 2009. In the spirit of the Christmas season, Bill Wilkes (above right) has asked that all proceeds from the gig be donated to the local charity Rainbows.
